Ranbir Kapoor's parents miffed over his holiday pictures with Katrina Kaif?

Bollywood couple Rishi and Neetu Kapoor are extremely angry about holiday snapshots of their son Ranbir with his alleged sweetheart Katrina Kaif.

There's no denying that there has been a sudden spurt in the number of photographs and buzz about Ranbir Kapoor's alleged romance with Katrina Kaif grabbing headlines. And those close to the Kapoors say that the actor's parents, Rishi and Neetu are extremely upset with their son's personal life being splashed across the pages.

Sources say his mother is especially miffed with his love life being talked about in the open. Intimate photographs of Ranbir and Katrina from their recent holiday in Ibiza is what seems to have upset the actor's parents.

DIU Alumni Association Holds Iftar Party 2013

DIU Alumni Association - organization of Ex-Students of Daffodil International University (DIU) organized a get together program and Iftar Party 2013 on July 27, 2013 at DIU Auditorium.

A Study Tour to Ghorashal Power Station by the Students of AIUB


The Department of Electrical & Electronic Engineering (EEE) undertook a study tour to Ghorashal 950MW Thermal Power Station, Polash, Narshingdi (the biggest power plant of Bangladesh) on 20th of July, 2013. Study tour to observe the electricity generation & transmission and power station operation & maintenance are relevant and enrichment activities of the electrical engineering education.

This time the tour was organized for the students of Power System Protection course and arranged by the course coordinator Mr. Taskin Jamal, Lecturer of EEE Dept. in order to introduce the students with the power station operation and maintenance concepts. With the course coordinator, another faculty member from EEE department Ms. Nabila Hussain, Lecturer accompanied 40 enthusiastic students in the tour. On arrival, teachers and students were greeted by the engineers and officials of Ghorashal Power Station.

Students were then divided into two groups and were given introductory speech about the power station by two plant engineers. They were demonstrated about the working principle of thermal power station, description of the cycle, working function of primary and auxiliary equipment's etc. The two groups of students were then taken to visit the 6 (six) generator-turbine units and the related control center of the power staion.

They were demonstrated about the working principles of turbine, generator, governor, cooling system, boiler, economizer, super-heater, re-heater, sub-station, protection devices, switch-gear facilities etc. of this 950MW power station. The students got a practical idea about the working principle of a thermal power station. It was a good learning experience for them to see the actual management operations too. The study tour contributed greatly to the students, reflected in their participation's during the lecture-discussion session and their queries during the demonstration. Professor Dr. ABM Siddique Hossain, Dean, Faculty of Engineering and Mr. Rinku Basak, Assistant Professor and Head (Graduate Level), Dept. of EEE provided their continuous support for the arrangement of the tour. The Department of EEE extends its profound thanks to the officials of Bangladesh Power Development Board & Ghorashal Thermal Power Plant, Mr. Tapan Kumar Chowdhury (Former Member, BPDB) and Mr. Md. Hossen Mahbub (Engineer, Dana Power Company Ltd.) for their support & hospitality and AIUB administration for providing the administrative support as always.

Certificate Awarding Ceremony Held at Green University


On July 29, 2013 Green University of Bangladesh (GUB) arranged a Certificate Awarding Ceremony to recognize the outstanding academic performances of the students placed in Vice-Chancellor's and Dean's List of Honor in Spring Semester 2013.

Vice-Chancellor of Green University Professor Dr. Md. Golam Samdani Fakir presided over the program while Dean of Science and Engineering Faculty Professor Dr. Engr. Md. Saifur Rahman, Registrar Lt Col Md. Ali Ambial Haque Khan (Retd), Controller of Examinations Professor SMK Nazmul Haque and Departmental Chairmen were present on the occasion.

A total number of 169 students from eight Departments of GUB received certificates, among them 96 were awarded Vice-Chancellor's Certificates and 73 were awarded Dean's Certificates. VC of GUB Professor Dr. Md. Golam Samdani Fakir distributed the Vice-Chancellor's Certificates while Dean of Science and other Departmental Chairmen distributed the Dean's Certificates.

10th Founding Anniversary of Presidency University Celebrated

Presidency University celebrated its 10th founding anniversary on 22 July 22 in a befitting manner and renewed pledge of developing skilled human resources. 

The university had started its journey on this day in 2003. It successfully continued the journey for last 10 years. 

The Presidency University is run by famous, experienced and skilled teaching staff. They have continued their bid to develop future leadership of the country with their utmost sincerity and creative teaching method. 

Prof. Dr. Muhammad Mahboob Ali, Vice Chancellor of Presidency University, told the founding anniversary celebration that the university has been working to develop a brilliant generation through standard but low-cost education for the middle and lower middle class.

Mitsubishi UFJ Foundation Scholarship for DU Students

Mitsubishi UFJ Foundation of Japan will award scholarship to 30 undergraduate students of Dhaka University (DU).

A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed in this regard on July 23, 2013 between Mitsubishi UFJ Foundation and Dhaka University at the vice-chancellor's office of the University.

Treasurer of DU Professor Dr. Md. Kamal Uddin and Managing Director of Mitsubishi UFJ Foundation Yoshiaki Ozawa signed the MoU on behalf of their respective institutions.

DU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. AAMs Arefin Siddique, Senior Representative of Mitsubishi UFJ Tito Mohan Dey and Acting registrar of DU Syed Rezaur Rahman were present on this occasion.

According to the MoU, 30 meritorious students of 3rd and 4th year Honours class under different faculties of Dhaka University will be awarded scholarship.

Each recipient will get US $250 per annum, said a DU release.

DU Admission Notice for PhD Program under Academic Year 2013

Applications have been invited from the interested candidates in the prescribed form for admission in PhD program of Dhaka University (DU) under the academic session 2013-14. 

Application forms can be collected from the MPhil and PhD branch, Room No 323, Registrar Office of DU by showing the pass certificates of SSC-Post graduate exams. 

After filling the application form properly, it has to be submitted to the Department Chairman/Institute Director's office. 

Two copies of a recent passport size photograph of the applicant, two copies of Number Sheet's Photocopy of all exams have to be attested by the concerned Department Chairman/Institute Director before submission with the application form. 

Admission will be cancelled if proper information isn't given in the form. 

Candidates who have passed MPhil or have a 4-year Honors degree or 3-year honors degree with one year master's degree can apply. 

No 3rd class or GPA below 3.00 in 4 scale or GPA below 3.50 in 5 scale is acceptable. Private university students cannot apply. For applying in PhD program, they have to first complete the MPhil program at DU.

Tk. 10 Lakh Donated to Kidney Foundation by DIU

Daffodil International University (DIU) donated an amount of Tk. 10 lakh to Kidney Foundation and Research Institute on July 16, 2013 as a part of its Academic Social Responsibilities.

Md. Sabur Khan, chairman of the Board of Trustees, DIU, handed over a cheque for the amount to Professor Dr. Harun-Ur Rashid, president of Kidney Foundation, at Kidney Foundation in the capital, says a press release.

GUB First National Debate Championship 2013 Begins

Green University Debating Club (GUDC) is organize for the first time "Green University 1st National Debate Championship 2013" to be held from 17 to 20 July, 2013 at the university campus with a slogan of "Profound conception of Reasoning, Fascinated with dreams of Revolution".

The debate championship has two parts namely Inter University Debate Championship and Inter College Debate Championship. A total of 32 renowned university debate teams are participating in the Inter University Debate Championship and 24 renowned college debate teams are participating in the Inter College Debate Championship. The Vice-Chancellor of Green University Professor Dr. Md. Golam Samdani Fakir has inaugurated the tournament today on 17 July at 3:00 pm. The grand finale of the competition will be held on 20 July followed by the award giving ceremony. The tournament will cover debates on subcontinent and global issues.

Green University Debating Club being one of the leading debating institutions of Bangladesh is planning to provide an excellent debating platform for all the College and University students who will participate in the tournament. This tournament will focus on the development and enrichment of debate as a form of communication, critical thinking and intellectual development. The club was established by a few young pioneers who were enthusiastic and puts Green University on the map of Bangladesh. The club has a number of remarkable achievements. Since inception, the club has been known as one of the leading debating teams in the country.

HSC results published on 1st week of August

HSC results will be published in the first week of August on the specified time schedule of HSC result publishing.

Dhaka Education Board source informed this to Eduicon.com as recently a rumor raised that, HSC results will be published on July 18, 2013 (Thursday).

Education Board Sources informed that, it is mandatory to publish HSC results in 60 days after HSC/equivalent exams.

The HSC and its equivalent examinations began across the country on April 1, 2013. But, for continuous strike called by different political parties, the theoretical exams ended on June 1, 2013 though it was scheduled to be end on May 28, 2013. About 33 exams of HSC were postponed for political strike. For that, the practical lab exams ended in the middle of June. Following this, the HSC exam results will be published 2 months later after June 1, 2013 and the date is August 1, 2013.

A total of 10,12,581 examinees sat for the HSC/equivalent exams under 10 education boards, Education ministry source informed.

This year 84,767 more examinees sat for the exams than last year, sources added.

The HSC results will be available in Education Board Results after publishing.

Melbourne International Research Scholarships (MIRS)

The Melbourne International Research Scholarships (MIRS) is awarded to international students wishing to undertake graduate research degree studies at the University of Melbourne. MIRSs are funded by the University with each faculty having a limited number to award.

Number

Each year the University offers about 200 new Melbourne Research Scholarships (MRSs), of which about 150 are normally awarded to international students as MIRSs.

Benefits and conditions

Benefits provided by the MIRS include:
  • a living allowance of $24,653 per annum (2013 rate) 
  • a Relocation Grant of $2,000 awarded to students who are moving from interstate in order to study at the University of Melbourne or $3,000 awarded to those who are moving from overseas
  • a Thesis Allowance of up to $420 (2013 rate) for masters by research and up to $840 (2013 rate) for PhD and other doctorate by research candidates, and 
  • paid sick, maternity and parenting leave.

New Zealand Development Scholarships (NZDS)

The New Zealand Development Scholarships are funded by the New Zealand Aid Programme, the New Zealand Government’s overseas aid and development programme. They are managed by the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MFAT).
The purpose of the scholarships is for candidates to gain knowledge and skills through post-graduate study in specific subject areas which will assist in the development of their home country. Awardees are required to return to their home country for at least two years after the completion of their scholarship to apply these new skills and knowledge in government, civil society, or private business organisations.

General eligibility criteria

Applicants must meet the following New Zealand Development Scholarships eligibility criteria before their application will be considered against the selection criteria, including any region-specific criteria. Applicants are expected to continue residing in their home country during the Scholarship application and selection process.
To be eligible, you must:
  • be a citizen of an New Zealand Development Scholarships participating country (permanent residents are not eligible to apply)
  • be residing in your country of citizenship, preferably for at least two years prior to application
  • not have citizenship or permanent residence status of New Zealand, Australia, or another developed country*
  • not be married or engaged to be married to a person who holds, or who is eligible to hold, citizenship or permanent residence of New Zealand, Australia or another developed country
  • be aged 17 or over before the scholarship start date

You are not eligible if you:
  • are studying full-time at post-secondary level
  • are transferring from another tertiary scholarship (either in New Zealand or in another country) to a New Zealand Development Scholarship

English language requirements

New Zealand tertiary education institutions set their own admission requirements for English language proficiency. All applicants should check the IELTS (International English Language Testing System, academic stream) or TOEFL (Testing of English as a Foreign Language) score required for admission to their selected New Zealand education institution. As a guide, most New Zealand education institutions require a minimum IELTS score of 6.5, with no band less than 6.0, for postgraduate level study. Some postgraduate qualifications may require a higher score.
Candidates must provide the original copy of their IELTS or TOEFL exam result as a pre-condition of placement. Results must be no older than 24 months at the time of the scholarship start date.
Candidates who show particularly strong developmental relevance and applicability may be able to receive three months’ English language training in New Zealand prior to starting their main academic qualification. Candidates with IELTS of 6.0 overall, with no band less than 5.5, should therefore still consider applying.

International Postgraduate Research Scholarships (IPRS)

Description
Applications are invited from suitably qualified international students for scholarships to undertake the degree of Master by Research or Doctorate by Research at The University of Western Australia. Application for a scholarship is also an application for admission to the University.
The purpose of the IPRS scheme is to attract top quality international postgraduate students to areas in which the University has specialised research strengths and to support Australia's research effort. Successful applicants can expect to become members of a research team working under the direction of senior researchers and in an area which has attracted external resources.
These scholarships cover International Tuition Fees for up to four (4) years, as well as Overseas Student Health Cover.  Successful applicants will also be awarded a full living allowance scholarship.

Eligibility:
You can apply for a Gates Cambridge Scholarship if you are:
•  a citizen of any country outside the United Kingdom.
•  applying to pursue one of the following full-time residential courses of study: PhD (three year research-only degree); MSc or MLitt (two year research-only degree); or a one year postgraduate course (e.g. MPhil, LLM, MASt, Diploma, MBA etc.)
• already a student at Cambridge and want to apply for a new postgraduate course. For example, if you are studying for an MPhil you can apply for a Gates Cambridge Scholarship to do a PhD. However, if you have already started a course, you cannot apply for a Gates Cambridge Scholarship to fund the rest of it.

Westminster Full Tuition Fee Waivers for International Students



The University offers a number of full tuition fee waiver scholarships to you if you are an exceptionally well-qualified student. Please note that this covers tuition fees only, not living expenses or accommodation.

Heinrich Boll Scholarships for International Students, 2014

Applications are open for Heinrich Boll Foundation scholarships for German and International students. The foundation grants scholarships to approximately 1,000 for pursuing undergraduate, graduate & doctoral programme in all subjects offered at universities of applied sciences or universities of the arts in Germany. There are two types of scholarships i.e. student scholarship and doctoral scholarship which is offered for those students who gained their university entrance qualification in Germany to study in Germany or EU country and for those students who gained their university entrance qualification outside of Germany to pursue studies in Germany.

12th Founding Day of Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University Observed

The 12th Founding day of Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University has been celebrated with great enthusiasm on July 15, 2013.

University VC Professor Md. Sadat Ullah inaugurated the daylong celebration programme by flying National Flag.

University Pro-VC Professor Dr. Shahidur Rashid Bhuiyan, Director of Student Welfare Professor Dr. Alok Kumar Pal, Proctor Md. Mofazzol Hossain, other teachers, officials, students, deans of all departments were present then.

Later, the programme started by flying balloons with festoons and after that, students & teachers brought out a rally from the administrative building. The rally rounded the whole campus.

11 DIU Students to Join Asian Summer Programme in Korea

A team of 11 students of Daffodil International University (DIU) left for Korea to join a three-week credit-based program titled 'Asian Summer Program (ASP) 2013' under Dongseo Asian Initiative Program recently.

The program offers innovative prospect of Asia and is designed to provide an International training in Korea for the students, aimed at building cross-cultural communication, personal soft skill development and career development as well as mutual friendship among the participating countries.

A total of 350 students from 25 universities in 10 different countries will attend the program, says a press release.

The DIU team, supervised by Professor Dr. Yousuf M Islam, is participating in the event started at Busan in Korea on July 08, 2013. The students will experience a highly international environment, allowing them to learn directly about the diverse cultures of Asia.

NU honours part-1, B.Ed examination results Published





Results of B.Ed examinations of 2012 under National University were published today while honours part-1 examinations results will be published. A total of 6,118 students came out successful out of 6,950 students who took part in the B.Ed examinations from 95 colleges across the country, a NU release said Monday. However, 2,22,615 students of 241 colleges across the country took part in the hours part-1 examinations. 
The results will be available at the university website www.nubd.info or www.nuadmission.info. Besides, honours part-2 examinations of today were held peacefully across the country. The turn-out of the students was 100 per cent.
