Your cost of living will depend on a number of factors: whether you live in University or Non-University housing, whether you live alone or share with roommates, whether you shop carefully and prepare all your own meals or you frequently eat out. The following is an estimated range of annual living costs for a single student sharing accommodations (university residence or private residence away from campus) with at least one roommate and budgeting food and personal expenses carefully.

- From September to April, the charge for the U-Pass (a universal transit pass) is included in your noninstructional Fees, and is assessed with your tuition. If you will remain in Edmonton from may - August, you can purchase a bus pass for $60 per month. For more information on the U-Pass, see www.uofaweb.ualberta. ca/u-pass.
- The miscellaneous category includes phone ($50/month), laundry ($30/month), pharmacy ($15/month), recreation & entertainment ($50/month) and dental ($20/month).
- Totals do NOT include taxes, tuition, textbooks, thesis cost and healthcare (healthcare must be paid if in Alberta for less than 12 months).
