A total of 501 students of different colleges, medical colleges and universities got the Shahjalal Islami Bank Limited (SJIBL) scholarship on December 22, 2012 at the Marriott Convention Centre Ltd in the city.
Each student got Tk 15,000 in SSC level and Tk 20,000 for HSC level in one time.
Chairman of the bank Alhaj Anwer Hossain Khan presided over the ceremony while Deputy Governor of Bangladesh Bank SK Sur Chowdhury was the chief guest on the occasion.
Among others, Directors Alhaj Syed Nurul Arefeen, Alhaj Mohammad Hasan, Alhaj Abdul Barek, Alhaj Tofazzal Hossain, Managing Director Md Abdur Rahman Sarker, Deputy Managing Director Md Abdul Jabber Chowdhury were also present. Deputy Governor of Bangladesh Bank SK Sur Chowdhury has appreciated the contribution of the SJIBL in social welfare and said that helping the poor and brilliant students to continue their higher study is one kind of patriotism.
This year scholarship has been disbursed among 501 brilliant students amount of taka one crore.
