CU English Dept observed Rag Day

Rag Day celebration is a celebration of olden time, a happy ending of an unhappy moment. Through this, outgoing students of a department try to suppress the pain of leaving their favorite campus behind.

Marking the end of academic life, the students of 41st Batch of the Department of English of Chittagong University (CU), arranged a Rag Day on January 15, 2013. The day was marked by a busy schedule of programs including a colorful rally on campus, dinner with teachers, a cultural function and blanket distribution among the poor.

The program formally began from the University railway station early in the morning with the distribution of T-shirts. Students brought out a colorful rally and danced along with the tune of the band party and reached the department premise through 'Katha Pahar' road.

After having breakfast in the Masters classroom, paraded through different faculties of the University. Then they came back to classroom to share a meal with their honorable teachers. Before dinner, most senior teacher, Quazi Mostain Billah, delivered a farewell speech. In a note of advice for the next course of student's life, he said: "Always try to be honest. Don't think of what you have got from the nation but always think of what you are giving to the nation".
