Delhi Technological University (DTU), formerly known as Delhi College of Engineering,
will launch four new programmes form 2013-14 session, which includes a
dual degree of B Tech and MBA. The board of management of the university
has also decided to create one seat over and above the sanctioned
intake in every undergraduate engineering programme for admission to the
central/ state board toppers. In another decision the university
management decided to double the number of PhD fellowships form 50 to
100.
Among the four new programmes, three are master's level,
while the dual degree will start at undergraduate level and end with a
management degree. The master's programme includes in MTech in
biomedical, MTech in industrial bio-technology and MTech in hydraulic
and water resources. The dual degree will be a BTech and MBA programme.
"The decision in this regard has been taken at the academic council
meeting held on December 28, 2012 and Board of Management (BOM) meeting
held on January 2, 2013," said A K Gupta, registrar, DTU.
In the
meeting of the BOM it was also decided that each of the engineering
programme will have provision enroll central/ state board toppers. These
seats will be over and above the sanctioned intake. The university
already has the provision of enrolling one single girl child all its
undergraduate engineering programmes which again is over and above the
sanctioned intake.
Giving a boost to research, the university
will double its intake of PhD scholars from this year. The management
has decided to increase the number of PhD fellowships from 50 to 100.
