NSU 16th Convocation Held at Own Campus

The 16th Convocation of the North South University (NSU) was held on June 18, 2013 (Tuesday) at the Convocation Plaza of NSU own campus at Bashundhara, Dhaka with great enthusiasm.

Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid presided over the Convocation Ceremony and conferred degrees to the graduate students.

"Some private universities among the 70 could not achieve the minimum standard. Most private universities have achieved the required education standard with all-in efforts and also achieved the confidence of the country's people," the minister said at the convocation program.

Among others, NSU Trust chairman MA Hashem, NSU Vice Chancellor Dr. Amin U Sharkar, and Canadian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Heather Cruden were present at the occasion.

The minister also praised the university and said that NSU is going ahead as one of the most successful private universities through its activities. He hoped that NSU will take more initiatives and responsibility to develop its standard.

"If the University follows the Private University Act 2010, it will be more successful in the direction of education," said the minister.

Private universities have to take more initiatives in the field of knowledge practice and research so that it can achieve international standard. The private university should improve the student selection process, text book development and knowledge delivery process to achieve international standard, he added. He urged the teachers to make students responsible and accountable to the country's people with their knowledge and opportunity.

This year a total of 1928 students from different disciplines received degrees.
