8 more new Private Universities

8 new private universities are getting approval from Bangladesh Government very soon.

According to the latest information, 103 applications have been submitted for approval of new private universities. But government selected only 8 from them. 2 of them among 8 universities project were cancelled before.

On March 13, 2012 the government approved eight private universities across the country, including two in Dhaka.

The newly approved private universities were - Hamdard University to be set up at Sonargaon in Narayanganj, Northeast University in Sylhet, Barendra University in Rajshahi, First Capital University of Bangladesh in Chuadanga, Isha Kha University in Kishorganj and Z H Shikder Science and Technology University in Shariatpur while BGMEA University of Fashion and Technology and European University of Bangladesh in Dhaka.

Sources informed that, this time universities of Chittagong and Barisal area are getting precedence for approval.

Sources also informed that, two of the universities have changed their name. So they will be named as 'Agricultural University'.

"Some new universities will get approval soon. Process is running on this. Place or area isn't the important factor. The factor is where university is needed," said education minister Nurul Islam Nahid.

However, the authority will conduct spot visit, scrutinize the applications and then, the ministry will approve the permission to eight universities.
