Intentional Students Day 2013 observed by Science and Engineering Faculty


Faculty of Science and Engineering of Green University of Bangladesh (GUB) organized a program to commemorate the International Students Day at the Room # 404 on 17 November 2013 from 10:30 am.

The program was divided into two parts. In the first part, there was a discussion session which was presided over by the Dean of Faculty of Science and Engineering, Prof. Dr. Engr. Md. Saifur Rahman. In this session, welcome speech was given by Prof. Dr. Engr. Muhibul Haque Bhuyan, Chairperson of EEE Department. He briefed about the history of International Students Day. He explained why and how this day is being observed in various parts of the world annually on 17 November. He also remembered the glorious contributions of the students in various historical movements of Bangladesh. Then the Presidents of three Clubs, CSE, EEE and TE, gave their speeches on this occasion. After that, Mr. Syed Ahsanul Kabir, Chairperson of CSE Department, gave his speech. He emphasized the need for the students to be ICT enabled to meet the challenges of the 21st century. Finally, Dean and Chairperson of TE Department gave his concluding speech by giving thanks to the organizers and participating students. He urged the students to be honest, disciplined and studious during their student life and not to involve in any immoral activities. At the end of the discussion session, all the students, teachers and officers stood up and took oaths. The oath taking ceremony was conducted by Prof. Dr. Engr. Muhibul Haque Bhuyan, Chairperson of EEE Department. All of them took oaths that they will respect their teachers; that they will be supportive to fellow students; that they will not indulge in any activity subversive of the state or of discipline; that they they will not adopt unfair means in the exam; that they will not smoke or take drugs etc.

In the second session, there was a movie show named 'Care of Sir' directed by Kaushik Ganguly and produced by Jaspreet Kaur. The film is set in a boys' school during the British rule of India. The story revolves around the life of school teacher Jayabrata Roy, played by Saswata Chatterjee, who has gone blind due to a sudden retinal disorder. He must now rely on his sense of hearing. After becoming irritable and helpless due to the situation, how he tries to stop the school being sold and how he tackles the situation becomes the issue of the story.

Around hundred students, teachers and officers of Engineering Faculty participated in the discussion session and watched the movie show.
