Professor Dr M Abdus Sattar has been appointed as Vice-Chancellor of North South University temporarily effective from Thursday.
Chancellor of the university President M Zillur Rahman appointed him to the post.
Earlier, Professor Sattar was discharging his duty as treasurer of the university.
NSU Deputy Director Belal Ahmed told banglanews that the Chancellor has accepted the application for early leave submitted on September 17 last by former Vice-Chancellor Hafiz GA Siddiqui.
However, NSU Trustee Board has decided to honour former Vice-Chancellor Hafiz GA Siddiqui as Professor Emeritus and provide him all facilities announced earlier, Belal said.
The two-month long impasse of the university centering appointment to the post of Vice-Chancellor was ended.
