North South University, the first private university in Bangladesh, was established more than 18 years ago by a group of philanthropists, industrialists, bureaucrats and academics. The government of Bangladesh approved the establishment of North South University in 1992 under Private University Act (PUA) 1992 (now replaced by PUA 2010). The university was formally inaugurated on 10 February 1993 by then Prime Minister of Bangladesh. The honorable President of the People's Republic of Bangladesh is the Chancellor of NSU.
Application Form
Students interested in attending NSU should send cash or a bank draft or payorder for Taka 800 or US$20 or equivalent to the Accounts Office for an application form and instructions concerning the admissions process. The student should return the completed application form to the Registrar's Office. [

Applications for admission into undergraduate programs are processed by the University and selected applicants are called to an Admission Test These tests are administered for the Spring, Summer and Fall semesters, usually two months before classes begin. Test dates are published in local newspapers. Accepted applicants must secure their admission by paying the Admission Fee within the announced deadline. Tuition and other fees are due before registering for courses.
Admissions Advising
On weekdays from Sunday to Thursday from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm the Registrar's Office advises prospective students and their guardians regarding admission. Campus offices are closed on Fridays. Students and parents are always welcome and encouraged to visit the campus for individual advising.

Undergraduate Admission Requirements
The minimum qualifications for admission into these programs are:
1. Academic Qualifications:
a) Second division in both SSC and HSC or a minimum GPA of 3.5 in both SSC and HSC exams.
b) GCE O-level and A-level:
O-level in five subjects with Average Grade Point of 2.5 or above and A-level in two subjectswith Average Grade Point of 2.0 and above; in the scale of A=5, B=4, C=3, D=2 & E=1. (one E is acceptable)
c) A US High School Diploma or equivalent.
Requirements may be changed anytime if there is a change in admission policy.
2. Acceptable scores in NSU's admission test.
3. Admission test will be waived for those who have got a minimum score of 1200 in SAT (Math+ Critical Reading) and 550 ( CBT 213/IBT 79) in TOEFL or 5.5 in IELTS.
4. HSC/A-level (appeared) candidates may sit for the admission test on the basis of an undertaking that they will not be admitted unless they pass the HSC/A level exams with minimum GPA requirement which will be mentioned in the Admission Offer Letter. A-level appeared student must submit their Statement of Entry.

A Bank draft of Tk. 800 in favor of North South University will be needed during submission of Application Form, downloaded from website. A complete application includes:
Filled out applicatoin form;
four passport size photographs (attested*);
clean copies of certificates and mark-sheets;
two letters of recommendation/testimonial from previous institution; and
Photocopy of National ID Card.* Photographs should be attested by first class gazzetted officer or Principal/Head of the Department of the last academic institution attended.
Graduate Admission Requirements
The minimum qualifications for admission to Graduate programs are:
MBA Program:
A four-year Bachelor or a three-year Honors degree or a Master�s degree in any discipline
At least Second Class (45% or above) in all exams or a minimum CGPA of 2.5 on a 4-point scale
Qualifying in NSU admission test or minimum score of 550 (CBT 213) in both TOEFL & GMAT
Waiver of admission for candidates with undergraduate GPA of 3.8 or above from NSU Executive MBA Program:
A four-year Bachelor or a three-year Honors degree or a Master�s degree in any discipline
At least Second Class in all exams or a minimum CGPA of 2.5 on a 4-point scale
At least five years of continuous work experience as executive (eight years for those with a two-year Bachelor degree) M.Sc in Biotechnology:
A four-year Bachelor or a Master's degree in life sciences, agriculture or a Bachelors degree in Medical & Surgery (MBBS).
At least Second Class in all exams or a minimum CGPA of 2.5 on a 4-point scale. Masters in Public Health:
MBBS, BDS or equivalent professional degree in medical sciences (dentistry, alternate medicine, homeopathy, unani etc.), or
Four year undergraduate degree from a recognized university in life sciences, social sciences, anthropology and psychology, or
Masters degree in health related subject or in any social science, management and other science subjects, or
A two year graduation in nursing from any recognized university after duly completed four years registered nursing course from government recognized institute.
At least Second Class in all exams or a minimum CGPA of 2.5 on a 4-point scale. MS in CSE:
A 4-year bachelors or equivalent degree in Computer Science/Computer Engineering/Computer Science and Engineering/Information Technology or any computer related areas from anaccredited public or private university in Bangladesh or abroad with a grade point average of at least 3.0 (in the 4.0 scale). Students having a CGPA of less than 3.0 may be considered if the GRE Computer Science subject test score is submitted.
Acceptable scores in NSU Admission Test or a scores of 1100 in the Quantitative and Verbal part of the Graduate Record Examination(GRE) General Test.
Three letters of recommendation, at least two must be from the faculty members of the last institution attended. MS in ETE:
A 4-year bachelors or equivalent degree in Mathematics, Applied Physics, Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, and Information Communication Technology from an accredited public or private university in Bangladesh or abroad with a grade point average of at least 2.5 (in the 4.0 scale) or minimum of 2nd class in BSc-Hons/MSc.
Acceptable scores in NSU Admission Test or a scores of 1100 in the Quantitative and Verbal part of the Graduate Record Examination(GRE) General Test.
Three letters of recommendation, at least two must be from the faculty members of the last institution attended. Master in Development Studies:
A Second Class in a three years� Bachelor degree OR A Second Class in Master degree.
Degree should be in Economics, Business, Environmental Studies, Social Welfare, Sociology, Anthropology, Political Science, Public administration or other related subjects from any recognized university. MS in Economics:
At least a Second Class either in the Bachelor (Hons.) or Master degree in Economics or in relevant disciplines from any recognized university. Masters in English Language, Literature & TESOL:
At least a second class in a three years� B. A. in English Four years� B. A. in English with a GPA of at least 2.50 M. A. or MS in subjects of liberal arts & social sciences
Admission of International Applicants
For purposes of admission, all persons who are not citizens or permanent residents of Bangladesh are defined as international applicants. In most cases international applicants seeking admission into NSU must meet the same academic standards for admission, as those required for native students. There are wide variations; however, between educational systems throughout the world that makes exact comparison of educational standards difficult.
International applicants are selected on the basis of their prior academic work, English proficiency, probability of success in the chosen curriculum (as evidenced by prior work in the academic area involved), and certification of adequate financial resources.
Transfer Students
Transfer students (those with previous college credits) are expected to have at least a 2.0 (C) GPA in all college level courses to be considered for admission to the University. Catalogs and official transcripts from previously attended colleges and universities must be furnished with the application for admission. Failure to provide either will disqualify the applicant. To be official, transcripts must be sent directly from each college attended to the NSU Registrar's Office. Hand carried transcripts and transcripts sent by students are unofficial, even though they may carry the college seal or signatures that are placed on official records.
Credit Transfer
A student may transfer a maximum of 60 credits earned at previously attended colleges and universities toward NSU degrees. Transcripts from all previously attended institutions must be submitted. Only credits on which a student has earned the grade C or above will be transferable to NSU. For purposes of transferring credits, Directors of programs and Chairs of departments will determine equivalence of courses and may also refer cases to the Equivalence Committee if needed. Transferred credits and grades are not included in calculating the GPA at NSU.
Provisional Admission
NSU may tentatively accept applicants for admission who cannot produce official transcripts by the first week of classes, such admissions are provisional. All provisional students who enter the University without complete credentials for admission will be required to submit the appropriate credentials as a prerequisite for continued enrollment. Required credentials must be submitted within the semester of initial enrollment.
Non-degree Students
Applicants 'who have not participated in formal education for some time or applicants who do not intend to become candidates for a degree may register for credits in undergraduate courses as non-degree students. Applicants are admitted as non-degree students on a semester by semester basis without any obligation to continue. Such students may apply at any time for transfer to a degree program with/without the credits earned as non-degree students. Non degree students may obtain transcripts reflecting credits for the semester(s) attended. A transcript fee will be charged.
Fraudulent Applications
Individuals who provide fraudulent information on applications for admission or readmission are subject to immediate dismissal from the university.
