Protest against mocking Prophet Muhammad

Expressing anger at the film mocking Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (pbuh) around 400 people staged demonstration in the capital on Friday
After Juma prayers a procession was brought out from the Baitul Mokarram National Mosque where activists of Islami Andolan Bangladesh, Islami Oikya Jote and Khelafat Majlish participated.
Police halted the procession at Shantinagar intersection where leaders of the organisations demanded parliament to condemn the film.
They also demanded the US government to punish the filmmaker.
Meanwhile, another group of Islamist protesters staged demonstration in front of the Jatiya Press Club in the city and brought out separate processions.
Chanting, “Death to the United States and death to Israel”, the protesters also burnt US flag during the protest.
The protesters also threatened to go for further agitation if the US government does not arrest the movie director within seven days.
Earlier, on September 12, 2012, the US ambassador to Libya and three other embassy staff were killed in a rocket attack on their car, a Libyan official said, as they were rushed from a consular building stormed by militants denouncing a US-made film insulting Prophet Mohammad (pbuh).
