Seven students of Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET) were expelled and also from their residential halls on charge of their involvement in making the university campus unstable.
The students, however, will get scope to appeal challenging the decision of punishment to the president of Academic Council of the university in next 15 days.
The expelled students are Nahin (mechanism), Rasel (electrical and electronic mechanism), Pavel (urban planning), Nazmul Alam (electrical and electronic mechanism).
Three students of computer engineering department of the university-- Shifur Rahman Jibon, Arafat Al Mehadi and Rana--were expelled in the same incident.
CUET sources said the decision of punishing the accused came on December 3 at the Students Discipline Committee but it was formally announced on Friday.
University sources said an altercation took place while a Chhatra League activist assaulted a student in the university campus on October 9, which very soon spread among the students.
Afterwards, the CUET authorities closed the university to avert any untoward situation.
