Three Indian Institutions figure in THE World University Rankings 2012-13

This year, three Indian Institutions have been included in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings.
The Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2012-13 has ranked three Indian institutions in the list of top 400 universities across the globe. The three institutions are Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) namely IIT Bombay, IIT Kharagpur and IIT Roorkee. Last year, IIT Bombay was the only one institution from India that was able to make it to the list.

THE World ranking is regarded among the best ranking systems in the world and the data is collected and analysed by Thomson Reuters. Though none of the Indian higher education institutions were able to make it to the top 200 in the rankings of 2012-13 but this year IIT Kharagpur stands at 234 rank. However, previous year’s ranking it was nowhere in the top 400. IIT Bombay has jumped 60 positions and has been ranked at 258 registering considerable improvement from last year’s rank at 317. IIT Roorkee, which is ranked at 367 in the world, was nowhere in the list of top 400 institutions last year.
