North South University (NSU) signed a memorandum of understanding with Water Aid Bangladesh recently to establish a Rain Center in the Department of Architecture. The signing ceremony was held at the Vice-Chancellor's conference room.
Speaking on the occasion, acting VC Professor Dr. Md. Abdus Sattar laid emphasis on harvesting rainwater in urban areas of the country, especially in those areas where the supply of pure water will soon become a challenge. Because of the high rates of urbanization and unprecedented growth of the city's population, the demand for fresh water is rising.
As a result, rainwater harvesting is going to be made mandatory for building users in the city through revisions being made in the national building code. WaterAid current Program Director Hasin Jahan and Sanjoy Mukherjee and faculty members of the Department of Architecture were present on the occasion.
