'Skills for Life' Course Starts at ULAB

University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) is offering the 'Skills for Life' course for students who have appeared for HSC and 'A' Level examinations and are awaiting their results. The course has been designed to complement the usual knowledge gained from books and help them become better thinkers and hence become an all-rounder.

Anyone who has appeared for their higher secondary exams can participate in this 4 week long course and all their expense would be provided by ULAB. The main objective of this course is to build each individual to reach their highest potential. Every year 120 students will get the opportunity. The subjects of this course are: a. English language skills, b. Information and communication technology, c. Career planning, d. Digester safety, e. Everyday banking, and f. Special Skills Development.

In the 'Skills for Life' course besides English and information technology, students would receive valuable tips for their desired career paths and about things they need to do, they will receive counseling about social responsibility, regular saving planning and knowledge about unexpected disaster preparedness. This course is essential for future and able leadership and for ULAB who are biased to Liberal Arts education. This program has become a regular scheme since its inception last year and is becoming very popular.

ULAB introduced this special short course in 2012 with the goal to prepare young adults to be ready for the world and to strive for excellence. As part of our mission of Liberal Arts i.e. Liberal Arts and Sustainable Development, we try to set young men and women free to explore, to create and to challenge their own future selves to become responsible and caring citizens of their nations, and indeed of the world. After success with the pilot project in 2012, it is continuing in 2013 as well.

This year, the program will start for the second time from 6th of June, 2013. The registration has already begun from the 15th of April. Like the previous year, this program is supported by ULAB's Department of English and Humanities, Department of Computer Science, Career Services Department and the Bangladesh Fire Service and Civil Defense Department.
