The third convocation of Eastern University (EU) was held at the Bangabandhu International Conference Centre on February 11, 2013.
Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid presided over the programme on behalf of the President Zillur Rahman, also chancellor of the university.
Dr. Anisuzzaman, professor emeritus of Dhaka University, gave the convocation speech.
Professor Dr. Nurul Islam, vice chancellor of Eastern University, delivered the welcome address. SM Bakhtiar Alam, chairman of the Board of Trustees of the university, also addressed the function.
A total of 1,575 graduates were awarded degrees.
The minister congratulated new graduates and said, "Convocation is a remarkable day for a university and the graduates. By this a new phase of life has been explored."
He also invited them to create a developed Bangladesh with utmost honesty.
Professor Anisuzzaman praised the efforts and achievements of Eastern University. He wished the graduates' success.
