The 2nd convocation of United International University (UIU) was held on
February 13, 2013 at Bangabandhu International Conference Center
(BICC).
The Hon'ble education minister Mr. Nurul Islam Nahid, MP presided over the ceremony while Dr. Mirza Azizul Islam, Former Advisor to the caretaker government was present as convocation speaker.
However, Mr. Hasan Mahmood Raja, Chairman, Board of Trustees, UIU delivered the welcome speech in the convocation. Professor Dr. M. Rezwan Khan, Vice-chancellor of UIU also addressed in the ceremony.
Education Minister Nahid in his speech said,"Private Universities must take measures to remove all barriers to imparting quality higher education in their own interest. More sincere endeavors of the private universities are required to attain the desired goal."
Congratulating the graduates, Nahid urged upon them to work for the interest of the common people. Convocation speaker Dr. Mirza wished the graduates every success in the new world they are entering and also congratulated them.
A total of 669 students from different disciplines were conferred undergraduate and graduate degrees while five meritorious students received gold medals for their excellent results.
The gold medalists are Partha Sarathi Biswas of Summer 2011, Nusrat Jahan Lisa of Fall 2010, Qamrun Nahar Eity of Fall 2010, Md. Sazzad Mahmud of Summer 2011 and Alima Aktar of Spring 2011.
All deans, head of the departments, teachers, administrative staffs, educationalists and VCs of different universities also attended the program.
