AIUB 13th Convocation Ceremony held

The 13th Convocation of the American International University Bangladesh (AIUB) was held on January 31, 2013 at 9:30 am at the Bangladesh Army Stadium.

His Excellency Mr. Md. Zillur Rahman, Honorable President of the Peoples Republic of Bangladesh & Chancellor of the University has kindly delegated Mr. Nurul Islam Nahid MP the Honorable Minister, Ministry of Education of the Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh to preside over the ceremony and confer the Degrees to the graduates. His Excellency Mr. Dan Mozena, Honorable Ambassador of the United States of America in Bangladesh was present as the Convocation speaker.

On behalf of the AIUB Trustee Board Mr. Ishtiaque Abedin and the Vice-Chancellor of AIUB Dr. Carmen Z. Lamagna also spoke on the occasion. A total number of 2563 graduates were conferred degrees for successfully completion of all the academic requirements in various disciplines of the Bachelors and Masters Degree Programs of the University. The following Medals were awarded in different categories to the meritorious students for academic and other excellence.

The Honorable Education Minister Mr. Nurul Islam Nahid MP in his speech stressed on the quality of higher education in the country so that Bangladesh can face the global competition. He drawn the attention of the young graduating students to the life and ideals of Late Dr. Anwarul Abedin, the Founder Chairman of AIUB who dedicated his life at the service of mankind as a physician both home and abroad and later establishing AIUB to promote quality education. He has also given emphasis on Science education which is now a global concern and it needs a thorough review at the national level.

Congratulating the graduating students for their achievement, the Education Minister advised that knowledge and skill earned by them should be used for their own development and tries to contribute to the national development and the society. He also hoped that the graduates will always maintain leadership quality with a view to focus their University and the Country at the International arena.
