Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnabi has been made the new vice chancellor of Begum Rokeya University (BRUR) of Rangpur.
Education ministry confirmed this on May 4, 2013. Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnabi was professor of Population Science department of Dhaka University. Earlier, Professor Dr. Abdul Jalil Miah was exempted from the post of vice chancellor.
On the other hand, Anti-corruption Commission (ACC) had launched a probe on May 02, 2013 into the alleged corruption by Abdul Jalil Miah.
According to the charges, the then former VC appointed at least 435 teachers, officials and employees without prior permission of the University Grants Commission (UGC). He was asked to submit report within seven days in this regard.
