BRAC University observed the National Mourning Day and paid homage to the Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman with due solemnity on his 38th death anniversary on 18th August 2013. A special discussion was arranged followed by a ‘dua mahfil’ in respect of the departed soul.
Professor Ainun Nishat, the honorable Vice Chancellor of the University chaired the event. Among the others, Pro-Vice Chancellor Professor Fuad Hassan Mallick, the registrar Ishfaq Ilahi Choudhury, Professor Ziauddin Ahmad, Professor Mofiz Uddin Ahmed, and Professor Shamsuddin Mahmood were also present along with their colleagues.
The speakers commemorate Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman regarding his contribution in building the nation and wore black badges as symbol of mourning.
Vice Chancellor Professor Ainun Nishat in his speech expressed that, “Mujib cannot be bound in any political boundary.”
Professor Ziauddin Ahmad focused on Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s dedication in determining Bangali’s individual identity as a nation.
It had been acknowledged in the gathering that, to protect the national unity and overall prosperity the youth must follow and pay respect to his patriotic ideologies.
A humble ‘munazat’ was performed after the discussion where they all prayed for the peace of the deceased soul.
